1. Editor crashes every time I try to save or load my scenario with error: 0xC0000005 - STATUSACCESSVIOLATION I can play Arma 3 with no problems so far, and I've made a few scenarios befora and was making one when this occured. After it happened the first time, it happens every time.

• Savegames from previous versions may not be compatible with newer versions when loading (and vice versa).
• Some anti-virus programs or firewalls can prevent the start of the game or hamper it running smoothly. If the game crashes on start-up or refuses to connect to any multiplayer sessions, please try to disable these programs (or configure them by adding exceptions as needed). Find more tips on configuration here.
• Some routers / firewalls identify the Steam multiplayer server queries as spam traffic. See tips about configuring the Steam browser here.
• If you are using a Killer network card (these can be on your motherboard), and you experience multiplayer BSODs, please try updating the drivers for this card.
• You may encounter issues after upgrading to Windows 10 from another version of Windows. Doing a fully clean install of Windows 10 (or upgrade with loss of data - carefully back-up first please!) can resolve such issues. Some issues can be resolved by repairing common libraries after the upgrade.
• Some recording software can cause game to crash (D3DGear for example).
• Some applications or corrupted Steam installation might prevent Steam from starting the game and cause the following message be displayed: 'Steam - Game Launcher Failed: Arma 3 failed to start (error code 81).', or they cause an unusual process exit with code 0x00000051. The following applications are known to cause the issue: spacedesk, Comodo Antivirus / Firewall.

Design

• When you are in weapon optics and change the Arma 3 key preset to the Industry Standard key preset, your weapon controls will not work properly.
  

Playable Content

• If the Bootcamp recommendation pop-up does not go away after clicking 'NO', please try adding this entry to your user profile (.Arma3Profile): bootCampWarning = 1;
  
• Player does not use stealth protocol when calling in supports in Showcase Supports.
  

Eden Editor

• Irregular aspect ratios may result in the User Interface not correctly responding to mouse input (e.g. drop-down menus).
• When switching focus back from other applications to Arma 3 while in Eden Editor, mouse input may not be correctly registered upon returning initially (f.e. causing a mouse button to register as pressed and held when it is not).

Animation

• Rocket launchers clip with your head while swimming.
• Warping resulting from leaning is still present.
• Weapon Deployment in certain areas or on specific objects may result in character levitation or glitching.

Launcher

• The RadeonPro graphics card utility may cause the Launcher to crash. Disable it or add arma3launcher.exe to its compatibility list and set 'Disable API detection'.
• The Raptr client may cause the Launcher to crash.
• The game may crash after starting the game from the Launcher when steam is not running before you start Launcher.
• Mod authors can be listed as 'Unknown' in the MODS tab in some cases.

Program

• On some GPUs bench-marking causes GPU drivers to crash on game start-up ('Display driver stopped responding and has recovered').
  • Use the -nobenchmark command line option.
• Picture-in-Picture may flicker on multi-core GPUs (forcing using only one core should hotfix the issue for now).
• Friendly AI takes you for an enemy if your mine kills a friendly soldier.
• Shadows cast by divers' fins are present on land when two or more divers are in the scene.
• 32 bit OS users (especially with 2 GB of RAM) may experience low FPS on Altis island. Check this post for a potential work-around.
• 32 bit game version users can experience a forced shutdown of the game when using the system memory allocator. Consider using the default memory allocator.
• There are occasional glitches in vehicle PhysX simulation.
• Use of unsupported memory tweaks in combination with unofficial memory allocators (example) may cause unexpected errors, including crashes.
• The game may terminate in an unusual way.
• You may see light blue vegetation appearing as you move through the environment and the LODs change. Please try to re-install or update your GPU drivers.
• If the game does not progress from the initial loading screen, try deleting the cache.ch file from the C:Users*User*AppDataLocalArma 3DataCache or your -profiles= folder, and then restarting the game.

64-bit

• The 64-bit client may not start on Windows 7. Please try installing this Microsoft security update.
  

Audio

• If you experience stuttering during scenes with a lot of sound effects you can try configuring your Windows sound Default Format to 16 bit, 44100 Hz as a work-around.

Graphical User Interface

• The shadow of letters positioning is not tuned.
• While changing interface size, texts may change size inappropriately.
• The selected tab in the dialogue doesn't have a permanent highlight.
• The F12 key is reserved for Steam print screen (re-configurable in Steam Client).
• Shift + TAB is reserved for Steam Community in-game (re-configurable in Steam Client). Even just Shift sometimes opens this overlay when it should not.
• Some texts in different languages than English may be cropped.
• Action icons may be positioned incorrectly for certain external camera angles.

Multiplayer

• Contact's optional data is not intended to be fully multiplayer compatible (PLAY CONTACT or -mod=contact). For multiplayer we recommend not loading the optional Contact data, and simply starting the game via PLAY.
  
• There may be desync and bandwidth issues in the multiplayer environment.
• Players reconnecting to the same server may not see their name on the scoreboard.
• Ambient life is not synchronized in MP.
• If you are unable to join a server due to a PBO error, it means the server is using different data than you are. Try deleting the mentioned PBO and accompanied BISIGN file then verify the game files via Steam or re-download the data from Steam Workshop if it's a mod. If the issue persist, contact the server administrator and let them know which PBO is preventing you from joining the server. They may have to conversely update or cleanup the server files. • Voice-over-Network does not work correctly on Linux servers.
  

Dedicated Server

• It is necessary to manually reconnect to BattlEye-enabled and password-protected servers after the game has been automatically restarted to enable BattlEye.
• When BattlEye is enabled, clients may get kicked immediately.
  
• Steam client modifies the steam_appid.txt file incorrectly. In case of issues, verify its content is: 107410
• Sometimes the add-ons are loaded from the wrong installation (e.g. main game). Try adding -mod=curator;kart;heli;mark;expansion;jets;argo;orange;tacops;tank;enoch to your arma3server.exe shortcut.

Input Devices

• TrackIR head-tracking users are advised to disable the TrueView setting for an optimal zooming experience.
• Using non-standard keys as modifiers for control mappings may lead to issues (e.g. G + LCtrl instead of LCtrl + G).
• To configure an analogue throttle to use more than half its range, please see this information.
• When multiple analog devices are mapped to one action, the input gets split across all such devices.

The 0xc0000005 access violation error is fairly common amongst all versions of Microsoft Windows, so hopefully the information contained in this post will help you resolve your particular problem.

The 0xc0000005 access violation error is very broad as it encompasses a number of different problems. Due to this reality, you will be required to try an assortment of solutions to rectify your problem.

When the 0xC0000005 Error Occurs

Typically, when the error occurs, you will receive the following message:

'An application error has occurred and an application error log is being generated. Exception: access violation (0xC0000005), Address'

This message will usually appear after you have attempted to run an application in Windows. After you close the error message applet, it will usually terminate the application, prohibiting you from running it. The 0xC0000005 error code may also appear in other error messages, depending on the particular application you are trying to run or install on your system. This error may also appear when attempting to perform specific functions or run inbuilt operating system tools, such as the disk defragmenter.

The cause of this error is numerous; however the most common are malware infections, registry corruption, corrupt device drivers and faulty memory. An incorrectly installed Windows security update is also known to cause this error.

In the past, the Symantec Antivirus tool was known to cause this error. Users would be greeted with an error message that would refer to a SAVRT.SYS file; a simple update was all that was required to fix the problem however.

Fixing the 0xC0000005 Access Violation error

Because of the unique nature of this error, it not being clearly defined and so, referring to a plethora of problems. The number of solutions are equally as numerous. Thus, I highly recommend that you try all the solutions I've mentioned below, until you find something that works for you.

Run Registry Scan

This 0xc0000005 access violation error is often the result of poor system maintenance and a corrupted operating system registry. Corruption in the registry is typically due to the installation and uninstallation of programs; this is especially so when users install programs over other programs without deleting them first.

In order for you to rectify this problem, you would have to access your registry and remove all the duplicate and redundant entries within it, but that's a procedure that can be very complicated and long-winded. Other implications of altering your registry, is the prospect of rendering your computer inoperable; that's if you accidently delete the wrong entry. This is where registry repair software comes in handy, as it automates the entire process. Users need only download, install and click on start for the program to scan and remove inappropriate entries.

There are many different registry repair tools out there, but I personally recommended Advanced System Repair Pro, primarily because of its multifaceted nature, its ability to remove malware, enhance system performance and repair your registry. You can find out more about this product here:

Run Virus Scan

If you have a virus on your computer, then the 0xc0000005 access violation error you are receiving could be a symptom of it. If you suspect that there may actually be a virus on your computer, then you will want to run a full virus scan of your system immediately. If you don't already have an antivirus program running on your computer, then I highly recommend you use SpyHunter, alternatively you could check out my post on the best antivirus tools.

Corrupt Video Card Drivers

Sometimes users will get the 0xc0000005 access violation error, right after they have updated their video card drivers. If this is when the error first occurred for you, then I recommend you rollback to your previous drivers; which is a fairly simple process. Corrupt Printer Drivers

Sometimes this error is due to an incompatibility issue between the printer profile and the settings of a program that you are attempting to use it on. If the problem occurs every time you try to use your printer, then I recommend you reinstall your drivers.

Disable Data Execution Prevention (DEP)

Data execution prevention (DEP) was first introduced in Windows XP Service Pack 2; it is basically a set of software and hardware technologies that are designed for making additional checks to the memory in order to protect it from viruses. From Windows XP SP2 and onwards, the DEP is enabled for both applications and hardware components.

The reality is that there are some applications that aren't fully compatible with DEP. Applications that use a technique called dynamic code generation, and don't mark these generated codes with an execute permission, will typically have issues with DEP. Applications that were developed without SafeSEH are also prone to problems when DEP is enabled on the operating system.

When an application violates the DEP, the user will receive the STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xC0000005) error message.

If you think the 0xc0000005 access violation error you're receiving is due to the DEP, then you have two options. The first is to contact the owner of the application you're having problems with and ask them for a resolution. The second option is to disable DEP for the application that is giving you the error; this can be done by doing the following.

1. First, ensure you've logged into your computer with full administrative rights.

2. Then click on Start -> Run [Windows Vista/7: Press + R], type sysdm.cpl and click on OK.

3. This will bring up System Properties, from here, click on the Advanced Tab, followed by Settings under Performance.

4. A Performance Options applet will pop up, from here, click on the Data Execution Prevention Tab, then click on for all programs and services except those I select, then click on Add.

5. An Open applet will load up, simply navigate to the exe file of the program that's giving you problems, select it, and then click on Open.

6. Once you've done that, click on Apply, then OK.

Faulty RAM

There are times when a 0xc0000005 access violation error may be due to faulty RAM (Random Access Memory). If you have recently installed new memory into your computer, then that should be your primary culprit, simply remove the memory, and then check whether the error has gone away.

If you haven't recently added new memory to your computer, then you may want to consider conducting a test on the memory modules, to check whether they are stable. For more information on how to do this, I suggest you checkout my post on PC stress test applications.

Update Internet Explorer 6.0

Does Internet Explorer appear to freeze whenever you attempt to open specific web pages; is this application freeze accompanied by an 0xc0000005 access violation error code?

This particular program typically occurs when you attempt to open web pages that have the SPAN tag in them. If the SPAN tag is not properly closed (using ) in the html, then the user will receive an access violation message. The solution to this is to update Internet Explorer to the latest version.

Remove Windows Update KB2859537

If the error message started to appear right after you updated your operating system, then it's recommended that you locate the KB2859537 update and remove it (assuming it's on your computer). If you cannot find it, then just remove the last security update you downloaded.

Use System File Checker

If all the methods above failed, then you may want to consider running system file checker, as a last result. This tool is designed to scan your computers system files and replace any that are corrupt or missing. The chance of this tool fixing this particular problem is slim, but it's still worth a try.   Any solution found yet for this problem that results because of VorpX and ARMA?

  The game worked fine through the first mission, then crashes within 15 minutes the rest of the time. The time before crashing is prolonged but not fixed by running VorpX as admin.

  I tried deleting ARMA's DLLs in its DLL folder which used for the proprietary memory usage software, that some said would fix this error. However. it will not allow ARMA game to even be started.

  I am using Freetrack for Oculus Rift to control character head movement.

  Yes i indeed had this same problem when i tried it with vorpx i believ it was 0.9 about a year ago.

  I dont think that we can get this resolved soon as far as i am aware.

  There remains the issue with battleye compatibility with freetrack, vorpx and other addon software needed to run VR.

  I have to say that the 15 minutes i spent playing arma 3 was actually one of the best VR titles with vorpx.

  I am sure that a fix will come eventually, but i think this issue is only limited to us because as far as i am aware the guy who made the arma 3 vorpx tutorial on youtube did not experience this issue.

  The status access violation error continued to plague me after using VR, so i had to reinstall the entire game (removing mods etc) for it to work.

  I tried setting up VR today with vorpx and can confirm that this issue is still there. It has crashed twice on me since trying, approx 15 mins into the game.

  I definately suspect a memory leak/memory issue between vorpx and arma 3. Unfortunately i dont think it will be fixed anytime soon.

  I may try to lower my ingame settings to see if that will have an effect.

  I am also getting this error whenever I exit a map, which includes the ‘briefing screen' at the beginning of most missions. Any ideas?

  I believe it seems to work using the 64 bit dev build of arma 3. You might want to try this. I have tried it briefly and it seems to run okay.

  The framerate is also higher and less chances of stuttering or screen tear.

  Do you have an AMD card you can test to see if it runs ok?

  I recently made a change to the Z3D renderer that *might*, but really just might, be related to this issue. Euro truck simulator 2 multiplayer download. In Arma III (and some other DX10/11games) there was a chance that under certain circumstances the Z3D renderer potentially could run into problems after some time.

  I can't really say whether that actually is related to your issue though since I couldn't replicate it.
